Walking Through the Doors

Walking through the doors of a church you have never been in before can be a nerve wracking experience! So here is a little information to make it a little easier. First, be assured that you will be walking in to a place where people will be glad to see you. And you should also know that you are joining fellow Christians who are less than perfect. So if you don't feel "good enough" to be here, well, neither are we. But we feel it's better to face our struggles together than alone.

What to Expect

Sabbath School

We begin our services on Saturday mornings at 10:00 AM with an informal Bible study time called Sabbath school. We usually have two or three different classes for adults meeting in various places. If you aren't directed to a study group don't be too shy to ask a greeter to help you. They live for such requests! If you have children someone will be happy to show them their age-appropriate classroom as well. They will have singing, Bible stories, crafts, and all sorts of other fun stuff.

In your study group you will probably be discussing a topic from a "quarterly," which is a booklet that is published each quarter on a specific Bible topic or book of the Bible. That lasts for about an hour.

Worship Hour

After Sabbath school there will be a break where everyone gets up and visits, collects their children from their programs, and prepares for the worship service. At about 11:20 AM the church service will begin. Someone will welcome the congregation, make any necessary announcements, have a worship thought, a prayer, and then the offering will be taken.

The program will be listed in the bulletin or program so you can follow along. After some singing and prayer the pastor or an elder will preach a sermon, which typically lasts for about 20-30 minutes.

Lunch

After the worship service there is usually a potluck lunch that is served. As our guest we would love to have you stay because that is when we can get to know each other a little bit. If someone forgets to invite you to sit with them (hopefully that won't happen) then ask to join any table you wish. Everyone will be delighted that you did.
